PSSA/Keystone Testing

PSSA / Keystone Information for Parents/Guardians The 2020 Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) are administered each year to students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. All school districts in Pennsylvania will be participating in these assessments. The purpose of these statewide assessments include (1) determining the achievement level of Weatherly students in the basic skills of writing, reading, mathematics and science, (2) comparing Weatherly district’s scores with similar schools and (3) providing parents with copies of their individual child’s basic skills score. ELA and Math PSSA: Students in grades 3 to 8 participate. Science PSSA: Students in grades 4 and 8 participate. Keystones: All 8th grade students enrolled in Algebra I will take the Algebra I Keystone Exams beginning in May.

In order for the district to have adequate comparison data and for the district to insure that your son/daughter is receiving appropriate academic instruction, it is extremely important for your child to participate in this assessment.

The Weatherly Area School District takes a great deal of pride in our student performance. Parents/guardians can help their children prepare for the test by ensuring that they get plenty of sleep the night before the test and they eat a good breakfast. Encourage them to do their best!
