September- Elementary Students in the Spotlight

November: Middle School Students of the Month

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for November. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

 

Elijah Derr, son of Paul and Connie Derr, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  He is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school band, attended soccer camp hosted by WHS Soccer Teams, attended Triple-Play baseball camp hosted by WHS Varsity Baseball coach, and was on the Envirothon Team twice.

Elijah is a member of the Freeland B&R Basketball League, Weatherly Library, Little League Baseball (regular season and All –Stars), Senior Biddy Basketball League, Greater Hazleton Youth Soccer League, and the Hazleton Street Hockey (regular season, All Stars, & Fall League).  He also volunteers for the high school band front carrying the banner or flag, helps neighbors take out trash, and babysits his younger brother.

Elijah is a member of Salem U.C.C. where he participates in all special programs, Vacation Bible School, and fundraisers.

 

Nikki Polivka, daughter of Nick and Rhonda Polivka, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, and homeroom representative for student council.  She performed in the first musical at Weatherly Middle School, is part of the E-cybermission Team that won 1st in state, is in the gifted and enrichment program, and is part of the purple comet Math Team.

Nikki is a member of the Hazy Swim Team where she qualified for the district team in the 50 yd. breast stroke and completed the youth triatholon and biatholon, Weatherly Girls Softball League, and she participates in the Weatherly Summer Rec Program.

Nikki is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul’s Byzantine Catholic Church where she attends religious education.

 

Marie Gunderman, daughter of John and Donna Gunderman, White Haven, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school chorus, and is homeroom representative for student council.

Marie participates in walkathons at the school and helps her neighbors mow their lawns.

Middle School Students of the Month: December

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for December. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

 

Kaelin Onimus, daughter of Sheryl Onimus, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  She is a First Honor student and a member of the middle school band.

Kaelin is a member of the Weatherly Senior Biddy Basketball League.

 

Nicole Gordon, daughter of Glenn and Jacqueline Gordon, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a Second Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, S.P.A.R.C. and Weatherly Jr. High Cheerleading Squad.

 

Sarah Howard, daughter of John Howard, Weatherly, and Kimberly Howard is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  She is a First Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, 8th grade decorating committee, S.P.A.R.C. and is homeroom representative for student council.

She is a member of the Weatherly Community Library.

She is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where she attends Sunday school and mass and is an alter server.

Middle School Students of the Month: January

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for January. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

 

Abigail Milore, daughter of Christian and Jennifer Winkler, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  She is a First Honor student and a member of the middle school band and chorus.

Abigail also child sits.

 

Skyler Zubritsky, daughter of Thomas and Lisa Zubritsky, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a member of the middle school band where she performs in parades and is in S.P.A.R.C.

Skyler is a member of the T.A.T. Homeowners Association and the Weatherly Community Library.

 

Jesse Gehman, son of Steve and LeeAnn Gehman, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  He is a First Honor student and also read to Kindergarten.

Jesse cuts grass and shovels snow, and also helps at Vacation Bible School at his church.

Middle School Students of the Month: February

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for February. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

 

Nichoas Pleban, son of Jeffrey and Stacey Pleban, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  He is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school band where he plays trumpet and participated in the Enviothon.

Nicholas is a member of the Hazleton Street Hockey League where he is co-captain of the team and plays in the summer and fall leagues and is also on the Coal Street Ice Hockey Team in Wilkes-Barre.

Nicholas is a member of Salem U.C.C. where he attends Sunday school.

 

Jessica Maddock, daughter of Douglas and Kristy Maddock, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a Second Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, and is in S.P.A.R.C.

Jessica is a member of the Greater Hazleton Youth Soccer Association.

Jessica is a member of St. Gabriel’s Church in Hazleton.

 

Victoria Luckwaldt, daughter of Richard and Annamarie Luckwaldt, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school chorus, 8th Grade Decorating Committee, S.P.A.R.C., and is homeroom representative for student council.

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for April. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

 

Matthew Buck, son of Gary and Denise Buck, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.

Matthew is a member of the Weatherly Senior Biddy Basketball League and Weatherly Little League Baseball.

Matthew is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where he attends CCD classes.

 

Samantha Paisley, daughter of Nicholas and Christine Paisley, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school band, S.P.A.R.C., and the Weatherly Girls Softball League.

Samantha helps her grandparents, cleans her house, and child sits.

Samantha is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where she is an altar server and attends CCD classes.

 

Samantha Knepper, daughter of William and Melissa Knepper, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, 8th Grade Decorating Committee, S.P.A.R.C., President of the Student Government Association, and the Weatherly Girls Softball League.

Samantha is a member of the Weatherly Cadets where she volunteered at the Weatherly Centennial and Valley Girls Softball League.  She participated in Cystic Fibrosis fundraising events, child sits, dog sits, and participated in the Centennial Alumni/Student Band Concert.

Samantha is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where she was in the 2013/2014 Confirmation Class and volunteers for the Methodist Church clean-up.

Mason Gerhart, son of Corey and Toni Gerhart, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  He is a First Honor student and a member of the middle school band where he plays the trumpet.

Mason is a member of the Weatherly Little League Baseball and Weatherly Senior Biddy Basketball League.

Mason is a member of Salem U.C.C. where he attends Sunday school and Bible school.

 

Alicia Penning, daughter of William and Cheryl Penning, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school chorus, S.P.A.R.C., and Weatherly Jr. High Girls Basketball Team.

Alicia is a member of the Weatherly Cadette Girl Scouts, Weatherly Youth Basketball League, and is a student at DeMelfi School of Music.  She also pet sits.

Alicia is a member of Zions Lutheran Church where she is a Bible School helper.

 

Robert Scholler, son of Joseph Scholler, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  He is a helper in the cafeteria where he helps with the younger children.

Robert attends the SHINE Program.
