Students Of The Month

September: Middle School Students of the Month

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for September. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

 

Kelly Royer, daughter of Christy Minor, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  She is a member of the middle school chorus and is homeroom representative for student council.

Kelly is a member of the All American Girls Softball League for the past seven years in Hazleton and Weatherly Community Library.  She also child sits.

 

Ashton Gerhard, son of Daniel and Michele Gerhard, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  He is a member of S.P.A.R.C.

Ashton attended Summer Soccer Camp and plays Piano and Guitar.  He also is a member of the Hazleton Street Hockey League.

Ashton is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes where he attends church services, CCD class, is an alter server and is on the music choir.

 

Kayla Summa, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  She is a member of the middle school chorus, 8th grade decorating committee and is homeroom representative for student council.

Kayla is a member of the Weatherly Library and child sits.

September: Elementary Students in the Spotlight

October: Middle School Students of the Month

Michael Gower, Jr., son of Michael, Sr. and Michelle Gower, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month. He is a First Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus and attends SHINE.

Michael is a member of the Weatherly Boy Scouts and attended the Weatherly Soccer Camp and attends Robotics Classes. He volunteered at the Weatherly Festival, White Haven Library Festival, Weatherly Lions Dinner, and at the church dinner. He also snow shovels for his neighbors.

Michael is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where he is alter server, attends CCD, is in the children’s choir and planted flowers.

 

Corra Chincola, daughter of Tammy Billman and Michael Chincola, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month. She is a First Honor student, a member of the middle school chorus and Weatherly Jr. High Girls Basketball Team.

Corra is a member of the Weatherly Girl Scouts, Weatherly Girls Softball League and Weatherly Youth Basketball League.

 

Stephen MacNeal, son of Kenneth and Karen MacNeal, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month. He is a Second Honor student and a member of the Weatherly Jr. High Cross Country Team for the second year.

Stephen is a 1st year member of the Lehigh Valley Scholastic Shooting Team and a 2nd year member of East Bath Sporting Clays Team.

November: Middle School Students of the Month

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for November. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

Holly Gehman, daughter of Steve and LeeAnn Gehman, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school chorus, is homeroom representative for student council and is in the Enrichment Program.
Holly participated in the Alzheimer’s Walk for Heritage Hill.
Holly has participated in Vacation Bible School for the past several years and has helped raise money for people in need.

Mackenzie Sherman, daughter of Eric Sherman, Freeland, and Amy Potsko, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school chorus, and Weatherly Jr. High Cheerleading Squad.
Mackenzie has been dancing for 10 years.  She danced at Faberge’ Follies for 8 years and Tracey’s Academy of Dance for 2 years.  She does Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Ballet.  She is also a member of a Competition Cheer Team called Storm Force through Tracey’s Academy of Dance.
Mackenzie is a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Hazleton.

Abigail Hernandez, daughter of Chris and Tracy Blackwell, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  She is a First Honor Student, a member of the middle school chorus, Weatherly Jr. High Girls Basketball Team, 8th grade decorating committee, and the Weatherly Wellness Council Participant. 
She is a member of the Hazleton Soccer League. 
Abigail is a member of Salem U.C.C. where she is in the Confirmation Class, an acolyte, assists with church dinners, and attends Sunday school.

December: Middle School Students of the Month

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for December. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.


Antonio Colecio, son of Anthony and Jennifer Colecio, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  He is a Principal’s Honor student, Reflections Contest Winner, attended the Envirothon, and has received Perfect Attendance Awards.

Antonio is a member of the Hazleton YMCA Basketball League, Weatherly Youth Basketball League, Weatherly Little League, Weatherly Boy Scouts, and the Anthracite Little League.  He volunteers with the American Legion to put flags on and remove them from Veterans graves and volunteers for the Weatherly Community Festival.

Antonio is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish where he is an usher and has received the Family of God Religious Award, Parvuli Dei Award and I Live My Faith Religious Award.


Morgan Gonzalez, daughter of Edwin Gonzalez, Nescopeck, and Amber Gonzalez, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school band, Weatherly Jr. High Girls Basketball Team, homeroom representative for student council and won 2nd place in the Lion’s Peace Poster Contest.

Samuel Hoffman, son of Denise Hoffman and the late Michael Hoffman, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  He is a First Honor Student and a member of the middle school band.

Samuel is a Jr. Volunteer Fireman for the L&L Fire Company.

January: Middle School Students of the Month

Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for January. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

 

Antonia Prete, daughter of Joe and Tara Prete, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month. She is a Principal’s Honor Student.

Antonia volunteers at the Weatherly Animal Shelter.

Antonia is a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Church where she is in the Junior Youth Group, Wrapped Christmas presents for the underprivileged kids, Bible camp junior counselor, participated in Christmas decorating at the church, helped prepare the Easter Egg Hunt, and participated in the May crowning.

 

Girard Fewins, son of Girard and Laurie Fewins, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month. He is a Principal’s Honor student and a member of S.P.A.R.C.

Girard is a member of the Broad Mountain Martial Arts where he earned his green belt. Girard is a member of Saint Patrick Church in White Haven where he will be in the 2015 Confirmation Class and volunteers at the annual church bazaar.

 

Nicholas Berger, son of Glen and Tammy Berger, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month. He is a Principal’s Honor Student, a member of the middle school band, Weatherly Jr. High Boys Basketball Team, Weatherly Jr. High Cross Country Team eCybermission Team, Purple Comet Team, Project Sage, and the Envirothon Team.

Nicholas is a member of the Weatherly Youth Basketball League, Weatherly Babe Ruth, Weatherly Little League, B&R Freeland Basketball League, 50-70 Babe Ruth League, Weatherly Little League All-Star Team, and attended Weatherly Basketball and Baseball camps and Marian’s Basketball Camp.

Nicholas is an acolyte, is in the Confirmation Class and participates in the Christmas plays at his church.

February: Middle School Students of the Month

The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.


Shayla Heitczman, daughter of Mike Heitczman, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor Student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, and is a homeroom representative for student council.

Shayla is a member of the Weatherly Youth Basketball League, Weatherly Little League Softball, T&K Tumbling, Center Stage Dance Studio, and the Greater Hazleton Youth Soccer Association.


Kayla Deppen, daughter of Daniel Deppen and Lea Palladino, Tamaqua, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.

Kayla is a member of the Weatherly 4-H Club.


Lillian Newton, daughter of Christine Kropp, White Haven, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor Student, a member of the middle school band and chorus and 8th grade decorating committee.

Lillian is a member of the Weatherly Girls Softball League and child sits.

Lillian is a member of White Haven United Methodist Church where she is in the Youth Group and Choir.
