Senior Of The Month

Student's who have received the Award as Senior Of The Month

December: Tracy Galada

Tracy Galada, daughter of Marcy Kudlick, Weatherly, and the late George Galada, has been
named Senior of the Month for December at Weatherly Area High School.

Tracy is a member of the varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams, and the high school
band and chorus, as well as the Carbon County band and chorus. Tracy has also studied piano for
nine years. She is active in Student Forum, Junior Leadership, and the prom committee, and is the
recipient of the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award.

In the community, Tracy is an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes church where she
has volunteered with their annual picnic, and she is a member of the Weatherly Area Summer
Volleyball League. She has been employed at Giant supermarket in Hazleton for 1 ½ years.

November: Rebecca Moyer

Rebecca Moyer, daughter of Bill and Lisa Moyer, Weatherly, has been named Senior of the
Month for November at Weatherly Area High School.

Rebecca is a member of the Weatherly Area High School chapter of the National Honor
Society and the high school band and chorus, as well as the Carbon County band and chorus. She is
a member of the soccer and softball teams, the Student Government Association, and she serves as
class historian for the Class of 2012.

In the community, Rebecca has worked to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,
and is a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She is employed at the Weatherly Country
Inn.

Andrea Dietrich

Senior of the Month for October at Weatherly Area High School.

Andrea is a member of the Weatherly Area High School
chapter of the National Honor Society and the Weatherly High School Band.
She is a member of the Soccer, Track and Field, and Cross Country teams,
and has lettered in both Soccer and Track.
She has participated in the Envirothon and the Computer Fair.
Andrea also served as Class Secretary during her sophomore year.

In the community, Andrea has worked with the NHS in a clean-up effort at Tweedle Park.
She also works with the district’s Technology Director as a student computer technician, assisting in all aspects of technical maintenance and repair, district-wide.

September: Matthew Caccese

Matthew Caccese

Matthew Caccese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Caccese, Weatherly, has been named Senior of the Month for September at Weatherly Area High School.

 

Matthew is a member of the Weatherly Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society, the Cross Country and Track teams, and the Scholastic Scrimmage team. He is active in CAN-DO activities, Partners in Education, the Citizen Bee, Science Olympiad, and the Regional Computer Fair, in which he placed first in the multimedia category last year.  Matthew is also a graduate of the Junior Leadership program.

 

For his graduation project, Matthew collected food and toiletry items for Marines serving in Afghanistan and packed and shipped the items to a Marine Force Recon platoon. Matthew received the title of “distinguished,” the highest honor, for his project.

 

In the community, Matthew is a United Way Allocation member, and a blood donor for the American Red Cross. He is employed at Weatherly Area High School as a Student Technician Assistant, and at Weis Food Markets in Hazleton as a cashier. Matthew is a member of Holy Rosary Parish, where he assists as an altar server.

March: Alicia Panzarella

Alicia Panzarella, daughter of Carl and Carole Panzarella, Weatherly, has been named Senior of the Month for March at Weatherly Area High School.

Alicia serves as the treasurer of her class, the Interact club, and the Weatherly Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society. She is president of the high school band, and the captain of the volleyball and girls’ basketball teams. Alicia is active in FBLA, SPARC, Junior and Carbon County Leadership, Student Forum, the Envirothon, and PIE. Musically, Alicia has participated in County Band for four years, the jazz band, and County Chorus, as well as the high school band and chorus and the high school musical. Alicia serves as the baseball and basketball statistician, and as an editor of the high school yearbook, as well as being a member of the prom committee and the Math League.

In the community, Alicia is employed by the borough of Weatherly as a summer recreation aide, and also by Whitewater Challengers, Inc. She volunteers at the Weatherly library, the Weatherly Pound, and United Church of Christ in Weatherly, where she is also a Sunday School teacher. Alicia is involved in a tutoring program for 5th graders, and in a local Relay for Life team. She also serves as the summer basketball league statistician.
