Superintendent's Welcome

Tomas McLaughlin 2012

Superintendent Welcome

Welcome to the Weatherly Area School District website. Our site will be updated on a daily basis and it will showcase the efforts of our students and staff. I hope you make our site a daily stop when surfing the internet.

I am honored to have been named Superintendent of Schools.  I have worked as an Assistant Principal, Supervisor of Special Services, and High School Principal here at Weatherly.  I am proud of the many achievements of our students, faculty, and staff.

Weatherly Area school District is located in Carbon County in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  Our district covers approximately 100 square miles and serves approximately 700 students.  Our campus consists of a K-8 building, a Middle States Accredited 9-12 High School, and numerous athletic fields.  Our buildings and campus are attractive and well maintained thanks to the hard work of our maintenance staff. We also receive tremendous support from the Weatherly PTA,  Booster Clubs, and the Weatherly High School Alumni Association.

Weatherly Area has a proud history of excellence in academics.  Since the inception of Pennnsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSA) in 2002,  our district has attained Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) every year.  Our district has also received the Title I Academic Achievement Award, the Classrooms for the Future grant, and we offer our seniors an opportunity to earn college credits through our Dual Enrollment program. Our buildings are equipped with the latest educational technologies. These are just a few of our many accomplishments and they have been achieved due to the hard work and dedication of our school board, administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents.

We are constantly looking to improve and provide the best for our students.  This year, our focus will be "Every Student, Every Day".  We want to challenge our students on a daily basis and mold them into solid, contributing members of society.

I wish everyone a successful 2012-2013 school year. Also, you can now follow us on Twitter, (@WASDWRECKERS) or on my Wrecker blog, available at the following link: http://tmclaughlinwreckers.blogspot.com/

Sincerely,
Thomas McLaughlin
