If a student requires a special education program or service because of a disability, WASD is required to provide a free appropriate public education to meet the student's needs.
The WASD staff determines the student's needs for special education programs and services. Eligibility for special education programs and services is determined after the student receives a Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Evaluation (MDE) and the development of an Individual Educational Program (IEP) which indicates the specially designed instruction needed by the student. Due process procedures are followed which include written parental permission prior to evaluation and/or placement of the student.
If you are concerned about your child and have questions, please contact the appropriate school building
